On the heels of Marley – the official documentary about the life and times of Bob Marley, French-Moroccan vocalist Ilhame (pronounced Eelum) covers Bob’s “Waiting In Vain”, dubbs it “Still Waiting” and gets Bob’s son Ky-Mani Marley to help. Loosely translated into French and Arabic, Ilhame beautifully displays the sentiment and feeling of the original song adding her own soulful, feminine flavor and an unmistakable Marley voice as sung by Ky-Mani Marley. You might even recognize another Marley in the video – Karen as she and Ilhame enjoy a beautiful LA day in the sun.

Ilhame is a Paris native with Moroccan roots and a foot firmly planted in Los Angeles. “Still Waiting” is the single from her debut album “Just Wish It” which features collaborations from Nicolay (Foreign Exchange), Shafiq Husayn (SA-RA Creative Partners), T3(Slum Village) and rapper Big Pooh to name a few. Album out summer 2012. In addition to her studio work – she’s opened shows for the likes of Erykah Badu at the Nice Jazz Festival (France), Dwele and Van Hunt and toured with Philly’s own, The Roots in Paris.

This is pretty damn cool. Check out this remix of Marvin Gaye’s “Ain’t That Peculiar” by Oddisee. Oddisee is preparing to release his new album “People Hear What They See” next month, but rather than do the standard issue single leaks, he wanted to make it more interesting. The video was done by editing several pieces of footage found of Marvin Gaye performing the song together and sychronizing the new remixed track – enjoy!

Get ready for a big collaboration from 2 of our favorite producers of the moment: Hudson Mohawke and Lunice. Their TNGHT project is coming out as a five track EP on vinyl and digitally July 24th via Warp Records/LuckyMe. Those familiar with the genre-blending, ground-quaking beats of Glasgow’s Hudson Mohawke and Montreal’s Lunice will think they know what is in store from a collaboration between the two, but nothing could prepare for the future hip hop production featured on TNGHT.
