BabyTron, the new hip-hop star of Metro Detroit on the verge of breakthrough

Get to know BabyTron – one of Detroit’s next wave of rappers who looks like they are keen on making it.

His latest album, “Bin Reaper 2” is featured on Apple Music along with other Detroit rappers like Ice Wear Vezzo, 42 Dugg and Big Sean.

“You know, it seems surreal like everything has finally come together, all the pieces of the puzzle have finally come together,” BabyTron said.

Born James Johnson, this 21-year-old’s transformation into BabyTron began at Lincoln High School in Ypsilanti – where he and his friends started playing rap and realized they were onto something.

“All the kids in school and everyone loved it, so we took it seriously – I took it seriously,” BabyTron said.

Serious enough to catch the attention of Felando Merriweather – CEO and Founder of TheHipHop Lab.

“I see ‘Tron being as tall as, like Drake and Travis Scott, you know what I’m saying? Like all movement, you know?” said Merriweather.

The group dubbed themselves “The Sh * tty Boyz” and quickly grew an following.

Heads really started to turn this summer with the release of Luka Troncic’s “Tron” album, a nod to aspiring NBA superstar Luka Doncic.

“You know the end of the NBA season was approaching and Luka Doncic was having a great season, so Luka Troncic didn’t have to do too much,” he said. “I was having a great season with rap, I wanted to.”

And he is not alone.

“Tron brings together a dedicated fan base that includes celebrities certified to Twitter with a blue check mark.

“Yeah, I just followed KD – Kevin Durant is following – he followed me and sent me a DM,” he said. “Jack Harlow, he always shows love. He’s a music fan. Big Sean – he has commented on some recent posts. He’s a music fan.

“Miles Bridges – had it on my album – by the Charlotte Hornets (from Flint and MSU). I’m not gonna lie: it’s so many people with blue checks, just yelling everyone with the blue checks following me , because that’s a lot of you all. I’m a fan of everyone who’s a fan of me, it’s mutual love. “

“Bin Reaper 2” is now streaming on all music platforms.
