So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Every week, we review a handful of new albums (from all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie” and talk about what’s coming out of metal. We post music news, track premieres and more all day. We update a weekly playlist of some of our current favorite tracks. Here is a daily summary with a bunch of interesting and recently released songs in one place.

NIKKI LANE – “BLACK WIDOW”

Alternative country superstar Nikki Lane has shared a second single from her long-awaited new album Denim & Diamonds, which was produced and mixed by Josh Homme and made with fellow members of Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys and Jack White’s band (it’s due out 9/23 via New West). Nikki says: “Recording ‘Black Widow’ was an exhilarating experience, with Carla Azar and Matt Helders on drums alongside the rest of the musicians. [Joshua] Male curated – the room pulsated as we followed the words of a presumably female black widow spider stalking her prey, a nickname easily associated with powerful women, which I found intriguing. For me, it’s always been more fun to move on.”

CALVIN HARRIS – “STAY WITH ME” (ft. JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, HALSEY & PHARRELL)

Calvin Harris shared a star-studded dose of funk-pop from his upcoming album Funk Wav Bounce Vol 2.

OMERETTÀ LA GRANDE – “BABA”

Rising Atlanta rapper Omerettà the Great follows her single “Sorry Not Sorry” with “BABA.” the two will appear on his upcoming debut EP, which is shaping up to be a very promising project.

DJ MUGGS – “STEET MADE” (with SCARCACE & FREDDIE GIBBS)

DJ Muggs continues to prepare for Soul Assassins 3 with new single “Street Made”, which features Houston legend Scarface (who, according to the song’s music video, may be Scarface’s last song before his retirement) and the great Freddie Gibbs. As you’d probably expect from these three, it’s an instantly satisfying dose of ominous ’90s-style rap.

JOEY BADA$$ – “ZIP CODES”

Not only does Joey Bada$$ have a great track on DJ Premier’s new EP dropping today, but he also shared another taste of his anticipated new album. 2000. It was produced by Kirk Knight and Mark Borino, and it’s a healthy dose of boom bap revival.

BODEGA – “THE ART OF ADVERTISING”

Brooklyn band Bodega released an expanded edition this year broken equipment which comes with an eight-track bonus disc titled Xtra-equipment. “The Art of Advertising” is the single, and frontman Ben Hozie says, “Even when I’m in social critique mode, I personally tend to think my writing is more literary than analytical, but here the” The Art of Advertising” and the diptych “Art and Advertising” functions as a sort of pop rock treatise on the subtle but crucial distinction between art and advertising (“Art creates the cosmos” while advertising “stat( s) surface(s) status quo”).

HAGOP TCHAPARIAN – “GL” and “It’s raining”

Hagop Tchaparian, who played in British punk-pop band Symposium and started making electronic music in the 2000s while managing Hot Chip (they named a song after him) and Four Tet, signed to the label Text Records of Four Tet and released their first single for the label: the slamming ‘GL’ and the buzzing ‘Raining’.

VANDOLIERS – “BLESS YOUR DRUNK HEART”

The Vandoliers call themselves “your favorite punk band’s favorite country band,” and they really let their own punk influences shine through on this new cowpunk ripper. This is the third taste of their upcoming LP The vandoliers.

DEMI LOVATO – “SUBSTANCE”

As the mainstream pop punk revival continues to grow, Demi Lovato returned to her rock roots and came up with “Substance,” which sounds straight out of the mid-2000s pop punk era. Demi’s next album Saint-Fvck (due August 19 via Island), and Demi also just played it on Jimmy Kimmel Live! with new guitarist Nita Strauss, who has just left Alice Cooper’s touring band to join Demi’s.

CLOUD RAT – “INSIDE CONTROLLER”

Cloud Rat has shared a second taste of the upcoming LP Threshold (due October 7 via Artoffact Records), and it’s a caustic metalpunk rager with a truly vicious delivery from vocalist Madison Marshall.

KEN MODE – “BUT THEY RESPECT MY TACTICS”

KEN mode’s long-awaited new album BAD arrives September 23 via Artoffact Records, and here’s single #2, a punishing dose of loud, muddy post-hardcore called “But They Respect My Tactics.”

OMAR APOLLO – “ARCHETYPE”

Omar Apollo announced IVORY (Marfil)a deluxe edition of his debut album IVORY with five bonus tracks, including the woozy soul of “Archetype”.

SUNNY SWEENEY – “EASY AS LOGO”

Houston-born country singer Sunny Sweeney follows her recent big single “A Song Can’t Fix Everything” with a second taste of her upcoming album. married alone. This one is a more upbeat and propulsive song, but still with a melancholic theme, and it’s another great one.

BROOKE ANNIBALE – “BETTER NOW”

Singer-songwriter Brooke Annibale has announced her new album Better nowexpected September 30 via Nettwerk Music Group, and here’s what she says about the newly shared title track: “I wrote this song in early January 2021. We literally just put the Christmas tree on the sidewalk, and I felt terribly bad sentimental for that. It was also the same week as the attack on the Capitol. We had gone through 2020, looking to 2021 as some kind of savior, but once it happened, nothing happened. really changed. There was still the same intensely hostile political discourse and the pandemic continued to rage. I felt like things were getting worse somehow, when I hoped it would be better now. Reflecting on that time, it taught me that expecting a perfect outer outcome would not lead to feeling better. I did the inner work to have some kind of peace with the roller coaster of life.”

DIMBER – “2 DYSPHORICALLY POSSESSED 2 B STRESSED”

The indie-punks of LA Dimber release a new album, Always active 2 Uin August via Dead Broke Rekerds, and the lead single “2 Dysphorically Possessed 2 B Stressed” is a Ramonesy ripper to which CJ Miller said the following New noise about: “The first chorus hits on those points of pain, confusion and despair resulting from the relationship with my body and the sound of my voice. But for the second chorus, I also wanted to chart an alternative path of triumph and trans-specific rather than the desperation that occurs in the first chorus where the singer feels hurt by her own voice.”

GULFER – “GREETINGS” & “LITTLE”

Montreal-based Gulfer has been expertly harnessing the sounds of ’90s Midwestern emo for a decade, and these two nostalgic new songs are no exception.

Timeshare – “LIVE BOY”

Timeshare’s new album MEMBER out September 9 via Wiretap Records (US) and Bearded Punk Records (Europe), and new single “Living Boy” is heart-rending punk rocker that fans of stuff like Hot Water Music and The Gaslight Anthem will want. To hear.

GRACE – “WASTELAND”

NJ’s Grace will take you straight back to the metal hardcore scene of the 90s with this bone crusher.

LITTLE BOTTOM – “I AM NOT”

Oakland indie-punks Little Low have released a bittersweet sounding track via Wiretap Records.

AGREEMENT – “17”

Mid-’00s pop punk staples Cartel are back with their first new song in nine years, ahead of their opening act for Dashboard Confessional and Andrew McMahon on the co-headlining Wilderness tour. It leans into their more ballad-driven side, and it’s musically and lyrically steeped in nostalgia.

HIDDEN IN SIGHT – “RAGDOLL”

Cartel not enough for you for the mid-2000s pop punk revival? The Hidden In Plain View Drive-Thru Vets have a new lead too! You can also catch them at Furnace Fest.

LEWIS OFMAN & CARLY RAE JEPSEN – “MOVE ME”

“In September 2020 I heard of an artist named Lewis OfMan,” writes Carly Rae Jepsen. “A friend sent me a playlist and I kept stopping on the same trail of Lewis thinking ‘this is really good’. The world was upside down so there was more time to really listen to music and then ask questions like “who did this and how can we be friends?” Lewis was really the silver lining for my last two years when touring wasn’t possible and the trips were just a dream. Besides that, he has one of my favorite male voices. Can’t wait for you to hear our first collaboration after such a long wait.” “Move Me” follows news of Carly’s tour with Empress Of and single “Western Wind,” which she released earlier. This year.

YOUNG CULTURE – “TATTOO”

NJ emo/pop punks Young Culture are back with a new anthem song, via Equal Vision.

FOAMBOY – “NO GOING”

Portland duo Foamboy have signed to new label NITA Records and have just released this effervescent, jazzy single for the label. “‘Not A Go’ is about being stuck in a ‘flirt’ that goes nowhere,” says Katy Ohsiek. “It’s about finally giving up, killing your hope that he progresses, accepting that the person treats you that way as long as you let them. It’s about getting your own agency back! I thought to myself. found myself trying to make my buzz grow faster to look more feminine and appeal to this person, and then I realized it didn’t make sense!And no matter how long my hair is, this guy doesn’t had no other intention than to waste my time.

UB40 – “CHAMPION”

UB40 composed the football anthem for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, which are being held in the band’s hometown. The track features Dapz on the chart and Billy G.

PYE CORNER AUDIO – “HEAT OF THE SUN” ANDY BELL FROM FT RIDE

Pye Corner Audio, aka analog synth wizard Martin Jenkins, has released a new album, Let’s emerge!, which is also his first for Sonic Cathedral after several records on Ghost Box. This one’s a little different, sonically too, trading dark electronic soundscapes for bright psychedelia, and it features the guitar and vocals of Ride’s Andy Bell (they’re frequent collaborators) on five of the 10 tracks from the album, including this gorgeous one that wraps things up.

LATTO – “PUSSY”

Latto follows his excellent new album 777 (home of her huge hit “Big Energy”) with “Pussy,” which samples Betty Wright’s 1968 single “Girls Can’t Do What The Guys Do” and it’s a fiery protest song against rampant misogyny and the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade (“My ovaries aren’t to be bullied,” she raps). A portion of the song’s proceeds are donated to Planned Parenthood. To learn more, click here.
