Get ready for summer as hip-hop trio De La Soul throw the beach party for Kent fans.
The Grammy Award-winning band will perform on Dreamland’s Scenic Outdoor Stage in Margate.
The vintage funfair is hosting a number of great outdoor concerts this summer, with artists such as Simply Red, Craig David and Tom Grennan set to visit in the coming months.
With more than 30 years of sampling and rapping behind them, from their 1989 debut album 3 Feet High and Rising to their collaboration with Gorillaz on the platinum-selling single Feel Good Inc., the New York trio have established as a hip-hop legend.
They now travel across the pond to perform their greatest hits, such as Me Myself and I and Buddy, for UK audiences.
The 90s icons will celebrate their careers with award-winning British MOBO artist Blak Twang, who will support them on their flagship show in Margate.
Blak Twang, along with London reggae musician Shumba Youth and rapper Truemendous, will appear on the lineup after original backing band the Sugarhill Gang had to pull out of the show due to illness.
Speaking about the concert, People Dem Collective event organizers said, “This is an exciting time for People Dem Collective as we present our first co-promoted event with Dreamland.
“It’s these types of collaborations that will allow us to move beyond simply being a platform of iconic black culture makers, to creating truly reciprocal cultural ecosystems – profiling early-career artists, through mentorship and supporting their idols, while expanding the scope and appeal of programs offered to the public. »
Also appearing at the outdoor concert are Ben Driftwood, Buddy Peace, Inky and Kenwa.
The show was postponed from its original date due to the pandemic. All original tickets are still valid for the new date.
The concert is reserved for 14+ and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
De La Soul is at Dreamland, Margate on Saturday 23 July. Book your tickets here.
