German electronic music icons Kraftwerk celebrate their 50th anniversary – a few years late due to the pandemic – with an updated cover of their 3-D tour which has founding member Ralf Hütter, as well as Fritz Hilpert, Henning Schmitz and Falk Grieffenhagen, going through their krautrock classics with stunning visuals. The tour hit NYC at Radio City Music Hall on Friday night (6/17).
You might be wondering how exciting a show can be with four musicians mostly standing still behind keyboard stands, but the 3D visuals – everyone was given white polarized glasses upon entering – accompanied by the sounds futuristic encores of “Autobahn,” “Computer World,” “The Model,” “Computer Love,” “Trans Europe Express,” “Pocket Calculator” and more, for an audiovisual spectacular evening. As they have done before, there were robotic versions of Kraftwerk for “The Robots”, which closed the main set, and the show ended with a mix of “Non Stop”, “Boing Boom Tschak” and “Music No Stop”. .”
