Hey, friends, it’s a first LCMG! Sometimes, when gathering information for the musical program of the week, I meet an artist that I don’t know at all. In these cases, I’ll dig a little – try to get an idea of what he/she is up to by attending one of their performances or (I admit…) by checking their FB page to see if they have a video. There is such an interpreter whom I have mentioned many times before. She performs occasionally in Mendocino County but, sadly, not yet with us Lake Counties. Her name is Lara Louise, and she’s from the Bay Area, and while (I admit it…), browsing her FB page, I found some of her live music videos – and she’s fantastic ! The word that comes to mind is “singer”. She’s playing Rivino Winery in Ukiah this Saturday at 1am, and I’m highlighting her in this week’s music program – and I STRONGLY recommend anyone who enjoys solo acoustic music make an effort to check her out – either by watching his videos, by buying his CD “Alone Together” or attending one of his performances, you will be thrilled! ‘Nuff talked about that! As with all of us Lake Countians, here is the live music schedule for this week of 10/11-11/17…
On Tuesday, the new “first day of the week”, Kelsey Creek Brewing in Kelseyville will offer an afternoon of live music featuring Buskin’ for Brewskis (me and 3 other reprobates…), playing while you enjoy great craft beer of seltzer. All this happens from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. There has never even been such an entertaining reality show on television…
The Hopland Tap in Hopland, (der!), is pleased to continue the hugely popular Invitational Blues Jam with house band members Wendy DeWitt, Kirk Harwood, Pierre Archain and Skip Engle on Wednesdays from 7-10am. This popular jam session house band is pretty exemplary, but they often bring in a Bay Area Blues brand artist to really kick off the jam. Cooler weather could force this fun event to stop, so be sure to get there before the freeze…
Acoustic savants of neo-flamenco Austin and Owens will greatly impress you with their acoustic excellence on Thursday nights at the Saw Shop Public House in Kelseyville from 6:00-9:00 p.m. The food can’t be beat and the full bar will add to the fun – so get carried away by their magical music!… I’m hungry – I think I’m going… Then on Sunday expect the rural jazz duo make your brunch experience that much better. Good food, good music and enough mimosas to make Sunday your favorite day…
There will be an Open Mic on Thursday at Catfish Coffee in Clearlake starting at 7:00 a.m. hosted by Chris Grant. It’s always a relaxing evening with amazing local talent from all walks of life – see you soon…
Andre’s Lounge in Lakeport on Thursday will feature the exciting duo, Kimistry and Tones (Kim Thomas – piano and Tony Neves – vocals), from 7-9 p.m. It doesn’t do much! Oh, wait a minute! On Saturday, The LC’s newest saxophone master, Craig Shaw, will blow your mind both figuratively and musically when he blows his sax for the screaming crowd from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Come in and see what André has made of the place…
It’s so exciting!!! The Soper Reese Theater in Lakeport will present the hip-hop excellence of Tajie and Friends on Friday at 6:00 p.m., a hip-hop show featuring Tajie D, Singular, Stewie G, Rocky Cimina, Matic, Jamilly and Preacher (sounds like members of the Sopranos…). There will be more rhymes than you’ll find in a rhyming dictionary…$15 at the door. Come on, folks, hip-hop is the music of billions of people around the world. Come join the 21st century because after all, you support the Soper-Reese…

Maynards Sports Bar in Lower Lake will be celebrating a Harvest Party with music from the Good Ol’ Boys on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. They will bring Country to the City with Rap, Country and Rock… So happy to see the big “M” back to live music.
Friday night Richmond Park in Riviera Bay will feature the music of Howard Reggie Dockens. Please call for hours.
Twin Pine Casino in Middletown will offer a special rock event during the Rockify presentation on Friday and Saturday nights, from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. Get ready to rock your world!
The Fall Classic Car Show will be presented by the Konocti Vista Casino in Lakeport on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m., with Oscar Mike Tango providing the pancake breakfast and featuring music from the Tattooed Cherries. There will be nice cars and good music. Check it out.
Saturday morning at the Farmer’s Finest Farmers Market at Mercantile Bldg in Finley from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. you’ll find an abundance of locally grown fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers and plants, as well as a plethora of local artisan items, it’s i.e. hand-woven baskets, ointments, essences, jellies and jams, oils, balsamic vinegar, candles, scented hand lotions, tie-dye garments, oils to beard, trinkets – even hummus! With the Christmas season fast approaching, all you can’t ignore is just a one stop shop with musical entertainment. Plus, they will feature the music of my good friend and countryman, Dennis Purcell.
And let’s not forget that the FFFM heads to Library Park on Tuesday with a lot of the same items, but even more items to choose from.
There are also Farmers’ Markets taking place at Pine Grove in Cobb on Tuesdays, Middletown on Fridays and Clearlake on Saturdays – all with live music.
Thank you for supporting our local farmers and artisans.
Pope Valley Winery east of Middletown, Lake County’s best-kept secret, will be hosting a Harvest Party with The LC’s favorite band, The Fargo Bros Band, on Saturday from noon to 3:00 p.m.
Vigilance Winery and Vineyard in Lower Lake will host its seasonal “Fall is in the Air” party with a musical performance by Bill Vanderwall from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. I like their wines – I like their vineyard.
O’Meara Bros Brewing in Lakeport on Saturday nights from 6:00-9:00 p.m. will present an evening of exciting and inspiring acoustic music from Austin and Owens, purveyors of a neo-flamenco style. The best thing I can say about this duo is “HOLY TOLEDO, ANDY!”. Well… maybe something more explicit…
On Saturday nights at the Riviera Hills Lounge at the Riviera, my band, Dr Groove, will play your USRDA of R&B, Blues, Funk, and Soul music from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Enjoy a great meal, a few libations from a full bar, but be sure to arrive early to witness one of the best sunsets the LC has to offer, then dance. Don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes…
The Casino Robinson Rancheria in Nice will host Neon Playboys on Saturday evening from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m., a group that will remind you of what rock music was like in the 70s and 80s. And you’re going to want to dance…
The Boathouse Bar and Grill in this pretty little town of Nice will have a great menu with plenty of options, a full bar and the fun music of the LC Diamonds on Sundays from 2-6pm (or maybe 3-7:00pm…) . This is the perfect place to unwind your weekend…
And finally, Lake County’s favorite dining and dancing spot, the Blue Wing Saloon in Upper Lake, offers a full weekend of great live music starting Friday night when the Ma Jide Trio takes you back to a time when things were better, easier, and simpler when they play some of the best songs from a bygone era from 6am to 8am. On Saturday, the band Uncorked will show why they are one of Lake County’s favorite acoustic ensembles from 6-8 a.m. Sunday brunch will feature musical performances by Margo and Friends from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday dinner will feature my friend and excellent performer Hillarie Wilt, who plays the piano and sings, which will enhance your dining experience from 6-8pm. Monday Blues just wouldn’t be the same if the Hip Replacements didn’t play the 1,4,5 from 6-8. It is a very good idea to make reservations for all of these events.
Mendocino County

On Saturday night, local favorite The Mark Weston Band will play Sports Attic 2 in Ukiah from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. It’s a nice place with food, a full bar and Mark Weston – how wrong can you be?!
There are still plenty of options when it comes to live music. If you’ve denied yourself the fun of dancing to a fun band, well, go see what you’ve been missing out on. Plenty to choose from this weekend – just to say… For those planning on going out and cutting a rug this weekend, be sure to have as much fun as you legally can, but be careful…
