Launch of HYFIN with Milwaukee Bucks and Soul Brew Kombucha partnerships

Radio Milwaukee’s new Urban Alternative channel HYFIN (WYMS-88.9FM HD2) is teaming up with the Milwaukee Bucks to release a collaboration t-shirt and Soul Brew Kombucha to produce “HYFIN-aded” kombucha for Juneteenth Day this Sunday, on the launch day of HYFIN, the station announced on Tuesday.

HYFIN is the brand new Urban Alternative channel, an innovative, locally personalized public radio format that connects to a young and diverse audience across the full black music spectrum.

HYFIN will also program and host the Juneteenth TeenZone Stage, located in Clinton Rose Park. DJ LOLO will perform at Milwaukee’s Juneteenth Day celebration from 1-2:15 p.m. Sunday, followed by a 2:15-3:30 p.m. set from DJ GEMINI GILLY.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Milwaukee Bucks, Soul Brew Kombucha owner Alesia Miller, and DJs LOLO and GEMINI GILLY for our Juneteenth Day programming and activation,” said HYFIN Program Director Tarik Moody.

“HYFIN aims to amplify and elevate the incredible contributions of black women in our community, so it was very important for us to do this with our launch on June 19.”

Miller is the founder and CEO of Milwaukee’s first black woman-owned kombucha tea brewing company. Soul Brew uses only the finest local ingredients and brews in small batches to ensure full-bodied integrity in every sip. “HYFIN-aded” kombucha features a sorrel flavor and a bright red color.

“Because we’re releasing ‘HYFIN-aded’ on Juneteenth Day, it was important to me to incorporate iconic flavors and colors from the Juneteenth story,” Miller said. “The red color of the hibiscus represents the history of our people and is meant to lift spirits.”

“HYFIN-aded” will be available for purchase on Juneteenth Day and will be available in-store at Outpost Natural Foods, Riverwest Co-Op, The Glass Pantry and Riley’s Sandwich Shop, and online through Milwaukee Farmers United.

HYFIN will also celebrate its launch on Juneteenth Day through a collaborative t-shirt with the Milwaukee Bucks. Designed by creative director DeChazier Pykel, the t-shirt features a unique design and declares “WE ARE ALL CONNECTED”. The shirts were printed by Cream City Print Lounge and will be distributed by HYFIN and the Milwaukee Bucks on location in Juneteenth.
