Kaya Boom and the Samba Soul Drum Team got the crowd dancing with a thrilling drum performance.

NAMBUCCA’s Kaya Boom and the Samba Soul Drum Team rocked the Red-C in Coffs Harbor last Sunday, as music lovers bid their final farewells to the popular concert hall.

Participants let their hair down and danced on the grass to the sound of the twelve-piece Samba Soul drummer team.

Kaya Boom and the Samba Soul Drum Team jam at Red-C every Wednesday and perform at Nambucca, Bellingen, Macksville, Coffs Harbor and South West Rocks.

Group leader Kaya Boom, who teaches percussion and rhythm workshops, will launch concerts and classes after the lockdown restrictions are lifted.

“Hopefully we will stay out of lockdown so that we can continue to do concerts and classes in Nambucca, Macksville, Bellingen, South West Rocks and the Coffs Coast.

“The reception from the crowd at Red-C was great, people couldn’t help but dance and cheer for Samba Soul music, it’s a really unique sound and when you feel the energy, you don’t. can’t help but participate.

“After being locked up for four weeks the band really got down to it and the audience loved it.

“New courses will start in three weeks and by then we are having a few small events, people can book workshops and check out the website at www.kayaboom.com“said Kaya.

Sadly, Sunday’s event will be the last of its kind at Red-C.

Red-C Events Director Jane Reidy told News Of The Area they wanted to have a “last hurray” instead of Coffs Harbor to celebrate the music.

“We wanted to have one last hurray before we closed for good and it was a fantastic day although me and Dan had to serve behind the bar because we were so busy it was great to see so many people having fun with a smile on their face. lips.

“Unfortunately our campaign and our petition to save the Red-C were not successful, the Council offered us a two month extension, but we just cannot work on a two month basis.

“We started from scratch in the first year and the last two years have been heavily impacted by COVID, so we walked out of the EOI process, we did all we could,” Jane said.
