Thinking about mental health and promoting activities that contribute to better mental health, a team of doctors in the city imagined a psychological gym.
Dr JPS Bhatia, neuropsychiatrist, who has worked in the field of detoxification and rehabilitation, with his team, designed activities with an impact on mental health based on psychotherapy. Dr Bhatia said the psychological gym would help with the digital detox that became a concern after the pandemic.
The gym has been designed to help train the core muscles of the psyche, the core, through mental exercises that include activities to combat stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues and other mental health problems. We also hope to offer digital detoxification, especially for children, through activities using music therapy, focus building games and other alternative methods.
âThe gym was designed to help train the central muscles of the psyche, the core, through mental exercises that include activities to combat stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues and other mental health issues. We also hope to provide digital detox, especially for children, through activities using music therapy, focus building games and other alternative methods, âsaid Dr Bhatia.
He said there are psychology interns there to take care and help people who come to the gym. He stressed the need to encourage mental, emotional and behavioral health. âExtreme digitalization has hooked us into technology like never before, and in this process we have lost the intrapersonal communication and connection. Several mental and behavioral problems seen in adults as well as children are the result. As experts, we try to offer an alternative to the problem, âhe said.
Dr Bhatia and his team had already started the state’s first internet addiction program for children.
