Online Music School Soundfly and Grammy-Winning Artist Kiefer Team Up for Innovative Piano Lesson | national news

BROOKLYN, NY, Nov. 10, 2021 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) – Award-winning pianist and producer Kiefer and online music school Soundfly have developed a new comprehensive piano course that connects the world of jazz and hip-hop. Kiefer: Keys, Chords, and Beats is available today in Soundfly’s subscription library of creative music lessons and offers an in-depth look at Kiefer’s creative process, giving students the tools to transform their own piano skills.

Kiefer Shackelford (who performs as Kiefer) is part of a new avant-garde of progressive musicians, combining deep instrumental skill with electronic sound and hip-hop rhythms. In 2018, Kiefer joined the legendary music label Stones Throw Records, which is home to hip-hop heavyweights such as J Dilla, Madlib and MF Doom, as well as collaborators of Kiefer Mndsgn, DJ Harrison and Knxwledge. Kiefer won a Grammy® in 2020 for his production work on Anderson .Paak’s “Ventura”.

The launch of his new course comes as he wraps up a North American tour in support of his latest album, “When There’s Love Around”.

Kiefer: Keys, Chords, and Beats features over 40 videos of Kiefer as he guides students through his artistic and technical approach to a series of creative keyboard and piano challenges. Students will learn to create sophisticated chord progressions, write and harmonize melodies, develop improvisation skills, and combine full piano-based tracks with beats and electronic elements. The course includes 57 lessons consisting of readings, audio samples, downloads, sheet music, activities, writing prompts and much more.

Soundfly CEO Ian Temple said of the course creation: “This is the kind of course I dreamed of someday doing when we launched Soundfly. I have never met an instructor who inspired my own piano more than Kiefer during the time we spent teaching the course. I know this course will be a game changer for pianists and producers.

A seasoned instructor, Kiefer has taught on Twitch and in private master classes for many years, but this is the first time he has incorporated his approach to music creation into a comprehensive course. Describing his motivation for filming a class, Kiefer said, “A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that great musicians are just born different or that they have access to some kind of divine inspiration. But over the past 10 years I have learned so much that it has changed this idea for me and taught me that anything can be learned. Everything can be studied. Everything can be improved. And these are the lessons that I put into this course.
