MANILA, Philippines – In an effort to establish a presence for Filipino artists in the West and around the world through music distribution, music rights management and artist development, PARADISE RISING has released its latest compilation “semilucent 2 “.

The compilation is a 5 track EP that offers genre-mixing acoustics, memorable melodies and high-energy 808s. Contrary to the dreamy, airy glow of the songs from the first draft, “semilucent 2” draws on the darker vibe that comes with the end of summer and a longing for memories of the past.

Highlights include exciting new recordings by Vancouver, Canada-based duo MANILA GRAY; Philippine singer and instrumentalist Steven Peregrina; young Amsterdam-based R&B artist daze; hip-hop powerhouse from New York, Calif., Christian Alexander; veteran rapper and songwriter Curtismith; and Filipino-American electronic producer Manila Killa with multi-talented global vocal artist Yuna.

For Steven Peregrina, his track “All Night” is “all about good vibes, good times and partying”.

For Manila Gray, “Island Baby (Maarte)” brings a new atmosphere to the compilation project.

“In this song, we show love to all the beautiful women in our lives, women who represent the vibrancy and class of our culture, both in our hometown of Vancouver. Maarte is high maintenance slang in Filipino, but it actually means artistic. We just wanted to turn this tale into something fun, while showcasing art and grace. All the strong women in our lives have high standards, sometimes you need that energy, you know? Like go ahead, everything is fine, feel yourself, ”the group noted.

According to Daze, his song “Situation” is about a relationship between two people who are between love and friendship, or a situation. Neither of the two really wants to admit how much they love each other, but the tension and the passion keep on rising until they both can’t deny it anymore. This is a touching song with layers and layers of melodies that express desire, connection and doing an act. of faith.

CA Christian Alexander said he and Curtismith “are thrilled to be a part of the ‘semilucent 2’ EP because we have the opportunity to represent the Philippines on the global 88rising platform and inspire the next generation. artists to continue to advance Filipino musical culture. . “

Alexander shared that his collaboration with Curtismith, “Black Hearts” is “an RnB trap song about how cold relationships can be. Welcome to the dark side of Heaven.”

For “Reminisce,” Manila Killa shares that he “started the instrumental track in my forties when I didn’t feel any pressure to create a specific type of music. It was at a time when I felt artistically free – he didn’t feel any pressure to create a specific type of music. there were no shows coming up and everything was at a standstill, so I took the opportunity to try things that I had never seen before.

“When I found out that Yuna was interested in the track, I was so excited to work with her because I’m a longtime fan. She totally understood the vibe I was looking for with the track and took it. transformed from that fun disco demo into something raw, emotional and reminiscent of better times, ”he added.

Yuna, who is on the track, said, “When I heard the Manila Killa instrumental track, I was at a point in my life where I had to start being creative in a new environment. I was home with my family, it was so different from what I’m used to. But listening to “Reminisce” just inspired me to write something touching, about the romance of the past or a memory that lives in your head forever. “
