The Wyze Cam v3 has bad news

The new Wyze Cam v3, the latest version of the company’s cube-shaped indoor security camera, will be difficult to purchase over the next few months due to an issue with suppliers. The company emailed users alerting them to the stock issue, noting that customers should expect certain Wyze products to come in and out of stock based on available supply.

Wyze Cam v3 is very similar to the Wyze Cam that came before it – the price is still low at $ 23.99, it’s still cube-shaped, and it’s still white in color. As expected, the model does come with a few noticeable upgrades though, including IP65 weather resistance to mount it outdoors if you prefer.

This model also offers more processing power, editing options, and captures video at a higher frame rate than previous models. The camera is capable of recording night videos in color, which is perhaps the most notable change from the v2 model.

If you were hoping to upgrade to this new offering, there’s bad news: Wyze says he’s learned that some of his “key vendors” aren’t able to provide all of the hardware needed for his Wyze Cam products. Right now, at least, the company is only getting about a third of the chips it needs to produce these security cameras, which means uptime will decrease.

As a result, Cam Plus members get priority access to any new Wyze Cam v3 unit that becomes available when supply is low. Also, sometimes you may find this camera out of stock, depending on the demand for the product.
