PARIS, March 1 (Reuters) – French fashion house Yves Saint Laurent held a runway show during Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday, showcasing a series of slender cocktail dresses on a catwalk overlooking the base of the Eiffel Tower.
Long-legged models walked a pale pink carpet in long, sleek dresses, some flowing low, and wrapped in pointy-shouldered tuxedos and oversized faux fur coats, while French DJ Sebastian’s electronic music played.
In his show notes, creative director Anthony Vaccarello cited the style of 20th-century anti-fascist poet Nancy Cunard, known for favoring big jewelry and masculine silhouettes.

Echoing her look, some outfits were accessorized with stacks of chunky bracelets or prominent earrings while long coats and low-rise jackets were worn with the collars turned up.
Soft fabric flowers pinned to dresses and jackets added a touch of romance to the dark color palette of mostly black with pops of ivory and tan.
The Kering-owned label (PRTP.PA) closed the second day of shows at Paris Fashion Week, which runs until March 8 and caps off a month of fashion events in New York, London and Milan.
When the show ended, Vaccarello dove into the crowd to hug front-row guests, including fashion icon Betty Catroux and actress Catherine Deneuve.
