Pokemon celebrates its 25 years. Feeling old already?
To celebrate the quarter century of the iconic video game, its developers have teamed up with Capitol Records to release two new EPs dedicated to Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, releasing the first one today. Pokémon 25: The Red EP presents three new songs from the formidable trio of Vince Staples, Mabel and Cyn, each one created to reflect the long tradition of double releases for the core Pokemon series of video games.
A press release shared with EDM.com revealed that the next EP Blue will also feature three songs, each of which are remixes of Red pieces produced by ZHU. When contacted for comment, the Pokemon Grammy-nominated fan and “Faded” artist stopped short of disclosing a release date.
“I grew up collecting Pokemon TCG Cards, so I’m very familiar with the concept of alternate versions of the franchise, âZHU said. EDM.com. “I’m happy to be the artist who remixes three songs in three different ways for the 25th anniversary of Pokemon and celebrate this legacy. “
the Red and Blue collections were developed as a nod to the very first Pokemon video games, according to Colin Palmer, vice president of marketing at The Pokémon Company International.
The music will eventually appear on a vast P25 compilation album, which is slated for release later this fall at the end of a massive one-year campaign by The Pokémon Company International in partnership with Universal Music Group. ZHU’s remixes, as well as the originals, will join tracks by Katy Perry, Post Malone, and J Balvin, among others.
